With impending weather complications, the town of Naugatuck has rescheduled a Town Meeting to Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at 6:00 PM to discuss not granting a water discharge permit for CPV’s proposed 800 megawatt combined cycle power plant in Oxford.
The original amount of discharge was 150,000 gallons a day. After the addition of air cooled condensers, the discharge has decreased to just 6,400 gallons per day. Clearly, this is just another attempt to stop the construction of this project.
Boilermakers Local 237 is requesting every available member attend this meeting to lend support to the developers of this vitally important project. This plant will bring jobs for the members of our Local for 1-2 years. Aside from our own interests, the economic impact from this project is estimated to bring billions of dollars in revenue to the State of Connecticut through taxes, wages and increased business.
The March 18th meeting will be held at the Naugatuck Town Hall, 229 Church Street Naugatuck, CT 06770. Please attend.
