The apprenticeship class of Boilermakers Local Lodge No. 237 recently trained at the Operating Engineers Local 478 training facility in Meriden, CT.

Instructors Ed Chicoine and Jeff Quirici – as well as journeyman Ed Tautkus – took the apprentices through several different scenarios aimed at giving them hands-on experience in signaling cranes with actual loads. Throughout the exercise the apprentices practiced their hand signals and made blind picks with the use of headsets.

Local Lodge No. 237 will be returning to the OE’s training facility in the spring for additional instruction. Any journeymen wishing to attend future sessions are welcome to join in the training exercise. Please contact the Local for additional information.

In the meantime, please take a moment to view the below listed photos from the class.
